Carrickfergus Rotary Club celebrates 50th Anniversary

Carrickfergus Rotarians, Honorary Rotarians and guests gathered together in the Loughshore Hotel for an evening of celebration to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Club receiving its Charter.

Guests included the Mayor of Mid & East Antrim Borough Audrey Wales MBE, Rotary District 1160 Governor Gerry Kierans and Assistant Governor William Cross, the Presidents of Carrickfergus Inner Wheel Judith de Fleury, Carrickfergus & District Men's Probus Club Rodney Lurring, Carrickfergus Ladies Probus Club Patricia Beggs, Coleraine Rotary Club Sue MacLaughlin and Carrickfergus Club Founder Member Watson Kernoghan.

All present enjoyed an evening of reminiscing and celebration including dinner and entertainment provided by Gene Fitzpatrick and dancing to Trevor Kelly & the Shades.

In a brief formal interlude President Colin highlighted milestones in the Club's development and its reputation for innovation and embracing new ideas. In response District Governor Gerry congratulated the Club on its achievements and presented certificates from Rotary International President John F Germ and RIBI President Eve Conway to mark the occasion.

President Colin and DG Gerry were then joined by the longest serving member of the Carrickfergus Club Rotarian John Turner to cut the special Anniversary cake.

It was an excellent evening of respect, reminiscence, fellowship and fun.
