Tree of Hope Charity Cheques Presentation - 6th February 2017

Carrickfergus Rotary Club's 'Tree of Hope' sited at Tesco's store in the two week run-up to Christmas once again raised substantial funds. Those organisations benefitting this year are Action Cancer, Children's Hospice and Diabetes UK.

President Colin McCarthy welcomed Diane and Ashley Strain from Carrickfergus Action Cancer support group along with Donna Weir from Action Cancer HQ; Linda Marshall Carrickfergus Hospice support group and Catherine O'Hara Hospice Fundraising Coordinator; Anne Ritchie Tesco Carrickfergus Community Champion and Fionnuala Savage Regional Fundraising Manager for Tesco.

In presenting the cheques he thanked all those who had helped with the project including Denis Kennedy who supplied the tree, Tesco management, members of each of the charity support groups, Downshire and Ulidia Interact Club members, Rotary members and most of all he thanked the Tesco shoppers who gave so generously.

He told those present that this year they had contributed a magnificent 7,000 making the total raised since the Rotary Club first started 'The Tree of Hope' in 2009, an amazing 78,000. Congratulations to Carrickfergus Tesco shoppers.
